    Fedex Shipments

Paid a shitload to have a gift (from NY) delivered to my house tomorrow in Norway. Seemes like fedex got the deal but I'm kind of confused over the tracking on their site:

    Sep 12, 2005
11:53 PM Arrived at FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
07:30 PM Left origin GARDEN CITY, NY
05:17 PM Picked up GARDEN CITY, NY

At first I was delighted that they picked it up quickly, but then wtf does "left origin" mean? Doesn't it leave once its picked up? And why the heck is it suddenly in Memphis? Thats kind of the wrong way vs Norway?

hm yep.. just found that Memphis International is worlds largest cargo airport .... but is it really more efficiant to ship it to memphis instead of just stuffing it on a plane from NY?

All Fedex shipments go through Memphis TN no matter how small. Even when I receive a check in an envelope, it goes all the way to TN first and I'm in NY.

Most every shipping company has a main hub that it all goes thru.

The fastest international fedex delivery is 1-3 days. All express shipments go through their hub in memphis. If they shipped it economy, it's 3-5 days. Just look at the tracking number and it will tell you either economy or priority. We ship hundreds of fedex packages a day and never have problems.
