Plane crashes are terrible of course but that many people die every day in auto accidents and everyone just goes about their business as if nothing is happening.

it is all relative. there are many more people traveling in cars everyday than there are people on airplanes. When there is a car crash 50 or more people do not die!

It is also human nature not to be as scared with 4 wheels on the ground as opposed to being in the air, not in control, and almost certain death if you crash.
