You have to decide if it matters the type of dog or not.
Bottom line a dog killed a kid. There was np with the relationship of dog-kid till the day it killed it. If you have kids the smart thing is not to have them unattainable at least near dogs of the size of pitbulls, dobermans etc.
In the meantime picture that: if there was a trade between the life of a kid and all the dogs in his state I would preffer the first. Imagine million dogs laying down dead or bleeding to death. Grasp this concept please and no I don't hate animals. but I get my priorities straight.
