Hauntingly accurate.
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, (X2)
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, (X2)
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.
Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.
Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
All last night sat on the levee and moaned, (X2)
Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home.
Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you...
Going down... going down now... going down....

If they did, then they probably gave advice with "Over the Hills and Far Away"Comment

Nope - they just reworked the song that was written back in the 1920s recounting the great flood of the Mississippi that flooded most states along the river - and caused hundreds of thousands of people to lose their homes(interestingly about 150000 or so were black in that case too) - actually in that case New Orleans was saved by a combination of a hundred or so levee breaks upstream and the use of dynamite to break a few levees outside the city to cause the river to competely destroy St Bernard (spelling?) Parish.Originally posted by p1mpdoggwarning? did they know what was going to happen?Comment

How about this Tragically Hip song from years ago?
"New Orleans Is Sinking"
Bourbon blues on the street loose and complete
Under skies all smoky blue-green
I can Forksake the dixie dead shake
So we dance the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim
Colonel Tom What's wrong? What's Going On
You can't tie yourself up for a deal
He said" Hey North you're south shut you big mouth
You gotta do what you feel is real."
Ain't got no picture postcards ain't go no souvenirs
My baby she don't know me when I'm thinking about thoes years
Pale as a light bulb hanging on a wire
Sucking up to someone just stoke the fire
Picking out the highlights of the scenery
Saw a little cloud looked a little like me
I had My hand in the river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the lord above and said hey man thanks
Some time I fell so good I gotta scream
She says Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean
She said, she said I swear to god she said
My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swimComment
