    Or would I need more. I'm looking for a dedicated server and found one for $79 a month with 500 GB Transfer.

        Sorry, I didn't know. That's why I came here to ask. If I knew everything then I wouldn't be here.

        What would you suggest for roughly 2000 visitors per day?

          2000 visitors how big are the MPG's and how many do you have on you movie site ?

          If you have 20 clips a day each 2 Mb and viewed by 2000 visitors

          then you have 20x2x2000 = 80.000Mb (80 Gb a day)
          x 30,5 = 2440 Gb / Month

          So you need +/- 2000 Gb not every one will download the clips (o;

          We use 7000 BG a day )o;

              It's going to be an affiliate site with downloadable previews. Each of the preview files are roughly 1 - 2mb in size.

              Also, they want to know what operating system I want installed; Linux, Windows, or FreeBSD.

              This is why I've always had an IT guy and now I'm trying to do it myself. Soooo much to learn!!! I can develop the hell out of sites but the backend shit kills me.

                              besides that our machines pull up to 80mbit fine with rhel4 , there's something about freebsd that always scared me .. and I don't think that it depends on the os , 15k scsis with raid10 did the trick for us ..

                                    I'm sure I'll survive.

                                    I'm busy as hell and if I didn't get back to you then I do apologize for that. However, it's hard to run a company and chat with people on ICQ at the same time. I have 40 people working for me and as much as I would love to give everyone personal service, I just can't.

                                    As far as your childish antics and calling me a twit because I didn't get back to you with a quote...I'm glad I'm not doing business with you if this is an example of what kind of person you are.

                                      500 GB you gotta be kidding, oh and never go with the cheapest option.
                                      Best option is to ask friends who they host with, never ask on here!

                                          With 2mb movies, I'd say get an unmetered/capped 10mbit if you don't have the budget for a burstable 2000 GB server. I have a good deal for you if you like.

                                              Oh right I think I remember you. But we've already discussed that our DOS had nothing to do with the traffic of your account. Don't flatter yourself though, the traffic was not that high, bad timing and I rather not argue about it.

                                                  you dont remember me because i myself never had an account with you. i just got a chance to read all your interesting emails first hand. fun stuff like "your virtual account was receiving excessive traffic so we disabled it" after getting a good placement on thehun and buying other listings on the same day and "I must of tripped over the power cord when i went to bed last night" after the server was down for 8 hours. you crack me up.

                                                    Could have been suspended, I don't remember the reason. But I don't have enough sense of humour to make such a comment about the cord trip, must have been in 2003/2004 when we had another technician. I don't recall the reason.

                                                    It has no relevance to our 10mbit servers now anyway.
