I don't remember anyone smeering Dole's or Bush Sr's war records.

So, turnabout is fair play, especially the way Bush attacked McCain in the republican primaries. Even more so as they are stretchng the military to capacity to hold down casualities for political implications.

McCain and other republicans with military experience are saying..Iraq needs more U.S. boots on the ground.
Turnabout IS fair play. If you're going to assume that being a draft dodger makes you naturally a poor President, then you have to agree that Bill Clinton was a poor President.

I don't believe he was. I think he was an excellent President. Draft record and all.

When did Clinton ever deny or hide anything regarding his war record? When did he ever attack Bush Sr. or Dole's service record? When did the media ever give him a break about it?

Hiding records and attacking other candidates is aside from the point I'm trying to make.

My point is that dodging the draft doesn't necessarily make you a bad President.

Kinda hard to rain on their records, esp Dole! His Purple Hearts are real. He really fought for the country.

              Agreed.

Lying about it does. So does attacking war heros from your own country.

                  WarChild...

Maybe you should tell the WHOLE story, the letter was Bill Clinton thanking Holmes and explaining why he pulled out of their agreement in favor of being drafted.

And check your facts, Eugene Holmes latter admitted publically to being paid to submit his letter to Congress by Bush Sr. supporters, the same ones who paid Ken Starr's salary for years before, during and after the White Water investigations. He also admitted to EDITING the Clinton letter to delete any reference to being admitted into the draft lottery.

Post facts please, not right wing jargon.

Especially in a thread where we are talking about False documents

But you see that's exactly my point. Some evidence points towards Bush dodging the draft. Some evidence points to Clinton doing it.

Either we accept it all or discredit it all. So which is it?

Good question. I happen to believe life is not that cut and dry. (i.e. most ignorant statement ever made by Bush, "Your either with us, or your against us.")

But nothing can convince me Bush isn't hiding something from his past. Why does he refuse to release his fully unedited records and why are so many of them missing or scattered through out the place when you can look up any normal person and find all of their personal info.

On a personal note, I don't like Dan Rather, I like Tom Brokaw.

On the same hand .. Why doesn't Kerry release hiis records from Vietnam? Surely he could put this entire Purple Heart issue ( I believe he earned them) to rest by releasing his medical information.

His records are not private. Its Republicans that keep screaming that he has not "officially" released his medical information, even though any dope can go look it up for themselves.

Bush on the other hand has had people remove his records from every place they can think of that a copy might exist.

Seriously, Bush is going through WAY to much trouble to hide something. Nobody works this hard when they did nothing wrong.

If this is true, and it may well be, how come there's any debate about the first Purple Heart? There must be records that show it was more than just scratch some people claim it is.

Personally, I don't question the man's sincerity. I believe he is probably a war hero and earned his medals.

I should mention it does sound like there was a trade off, phone number in exchange for the documents as part of a deal.

But for Bartlett to go and spin the whole thing that the Kerry campaign is working with CBS against the Bush campaign is fucking retarded.

Because the "Swift Boat Liars" keep saying the records are false and that Kerry himself wrote his own records and reccomendations.

Anybody with half a brain cell left can clearly see how this would be impossible. But FACTS do not ever stop Republicans from spewing their propanganda, they believe if enough people hear it, they will believe it no matter what the truth is.

Kind of like the dumb bitch that got thrown off Hardball because she tried to say Kerry shot himself three times to get his purple hearts.

The newspaper's editors, like those at other media, relied in part on the fact that the White House did not challenge the memos' authenticity and released copies after the broadcast.)"

cbs sent those documents to the whitehouse before they aired the story. why didn't the whitehouse question the authenticity of those documents beforehand?
Because Karl Rove probably faked the documents himself to end the discussion of Bush's record. Read up about Rove, he's done some amazing things over the years. Quite a coincidence that some anonymous guy on some right wing blog could tell the documents were fake from seeing them on TV for 2 seconds. What you have to realize is a) Rove will do anything to win, and b) he's a whole hell of a lot smarter than you or I. Anyone who thinks Bush's campaign commercials are the extent of Rove's work this year are kidding themselves.

Rove is most certainly an intellectual force. If Bush wins this Novemeber (And I think he just might), George will owe Karl big time.
