it's a pretty basic idea: the stategy of doing larger and larger volume, and squeezing costs down over volume precentage-wise.
if you have 10 members, and want to create a killer paysite (think content), it will cost you X. if you have 10,000 members, the content will still cost you X.
of course the more members -> the more bandwidth and hardware costs - but as you increase volume, all of those costs should come down on a per member % profit, because more volume = better pricing and leverage.
just one example. i apply this sort of thinking everywhere possible.
