    Help with torrents...

    I just setup a torrent server and seeder on my linux box at home. Can you guys try the torrents on this page and let me know if they work for you?

    They're in the first blog entry. I live with a pile of artists, and I want to set it up so we can serve up some of their songs from the house without them having to buy a webserver.

    Also, when I start downloading these from another computer in the house, they download super-fast, but only after about 30 seconds of just waiting. Is there a way to speed this up? I'm using btseed together with bttrack to run this setup.

    P.S... yes I can get them from inside the house.. I'm just double-checking the firewall works.

      Any help? I know the night crew is around and probably could use something to listen to.. the torrents are a couple of new songs I just pumped out.

              That's what i was afraid of. I've opened up the port for the tracker, but I'm not sure what port to open up for btseed. I'll give it another go and see what I can do.

                  I've now opened up the port that I think btseed is using. If anyone cares to give it another go, let me know. Try giving it 30 seconds to a minute for discovery.. after all, there is only one seed.

                                      Awesome. it's using our home internet connection.. I just wanted a way to not bog down the line too much.. the server is seeding stuff 24/7, but if the site gets popular, then other people will end up sharing with each other.

                                              I dont know much about torrents but how are you seeding the files? AFAIK torrents work good if many people are downloading the same file at the same time.If noone is actually downloading the file, people wont be able to download. So you might actually be better off just serving the files the old fashioned way. Unless these guys are popular and many people download their stuff...

                                                  I've got the tracker set up on the same computer with a client, so there will always be at least one seed. That way, it will always work as long as the person has a bittorrent client. It's really just making sure the firewall is open for the seeder.. that's the problem I was having.

                                                  So, if nobody is seeding, we use just as much bandwidth, but if a few people are seeding, I use hardly any.

                                                      Hey Phasic.. thanks.. I'm glad you like the tunes! I've had about 5 people verify that the torrents are working with no external seeders now. This is awesome, cause there's no way I'll be able to serve up mp3's to everybody right off the server when this site gets popular, but I didn't want to leave that feature out.

                                                      Does anyone else run a blog here? Maybe want to give me some tips on traffic building?
