God, reading that 9/11 thread is chilling - posts like "Can you believe there's only one Trade Centre Tower left?" and "Those buildings aren't going to hold" and the fact that three people posted "The second tower's gone" pretty much all at the same time shows how crazy that day was.

Unfortunately, I was only twelve when it happened - I don't remember much of the actual day. I wasn't really sure what'd happened, and only in recent years have come to appreciate the true horror and scale of the whole event.

Currently download the National Geographic's 9/11 Documentary from Bitsoup.org - recently I've wanted to know everything about 9/11 since I missed so much on that fateful day. In fact, I don't think I even reacted to it. I actually remember seeing people being interviewed after both planes had gone in and seeing them sobbing and genuinely frightened, and then seeing the towers smoking and saying something like "Christ, you're overreacting a bit - it's only a fire isn't it?". I always feel guilty for saying that, even though I didn't know truly what had happened.

Yeah, I may be British but seeing the partiotic stance of pretty much every American in the aftermath (in terms of days) was truly awe-inspiring.
