Shuddup Cheney. Kerry at least knows what battle is like. He's been on the ground, in the front lines. He's not all talk. All you know how to do is line your pockets on the blood of American soldiers. You're a business man, without a heart and soul.

That's because Dole did Viagra advetisements. Clinton enjoys that kind of humor.
I'm still not understanding how either Bush or Kerry can get
"other countries" or the UN involved.
i.e.
What could either of them can get France, Germany,
Canada, Russia, or anyone else to put thousands
of troops into Iraq to take the load off the US and overwhelm
those still fighting?
Only way I could see it would be in exchange for a major
concession.
Like letting France put its Hussein era contracts back in place.
Or turning a blind eye to anything Russia feels like doing
in the Chechen situation.
"I try to make a habit of bouncing my eyes up to the face of a beautiful woman, and often repeat “not mine” in my head or even verbally. She’s not mine. God has her set aside. She’s not mine. She’s His little girl, and she needs me to fight for her by keeping my eyes where they should be."

That IS how politics works dude. You get what you want by finding out what they want and you make a deal.
SO what if other countries want someting in return? For the most part they are not going to get that far, but there will most certaintly be concessions along the way to butter up the path.
I really do not see most U.N. nations being that hard to please if we have a new president. Their alliance with us is just as important to them as our alliance to them, they will likely fold much easier in favor of reunifying old friends for the common good. For the headlines if nothing else. What happens behind closed doors we will never know.
But are American lives not worth making a few meaningless concessions to safe a few of them?

My point was that given how unpopular the Iraq war is in most
countries, getting those countries to participate in a significant
way will either be impossible or require a MAJOR concession,
not a MEANINGLESS concession.
I just can't envision 'diplomacy' resulting in 25,000 French troops
in Iraq, for example.

You missed my point entirely.
The war is, yes, very unpopular, nobody disagrees with this. However, I a sure attempting to clean up the damage, rebuild thier lives and get them back on the right track is not unpopular at all. Most countries would be willing to get involved if this were the case.
Case in point, Canada has already promised they would be involved if this were the case, as have several EU nations and Japan. But they are not willing to help with continued fighting and destruction so that the U.S. can profit from it.
And honestly, what MAJOR concession are you so worried about? What some other country might make money of the rebuilding of Iraq and Haliburton will be out a few million bucks? OOo The horror right? Poor ole Dick Cheney will be forced to give up one of his homes in the mountains.
Maybe Canada will demand we allow their moose to cross freely into our national parks to help ease the congestion in their overcrowded forrest?
(Just joking Canada!)
There are no MAJOR concessions that will hurt us or anybody else in the world, and I would be willing to bet you if there were any such concessions on the table the Kerry admin would not even give it the time of day and stand firm. There is such a thing as give and take, but standing your ground and forcing respect.

That argument might make sense if Dick Cheney actually
owned any Haliburton stock.
And the rest of it supports my point...
The UN and the other countries all want to show up to rebuild
and make money, too. AFTER it is no longer a dangerous
war zone.
And I've heard nothing from Canada or Japan about what
they will do, or would like us to do to that would make Iraq
safe enough for them to show up.
If some other country said
"US, you fucked up, leave... and we'll go in and mop up..."
I'd be all for it.
Either the majority of Iraqis don't want us there.. or they are
willing to let the violent minority take over.
Either way, I don't think it is worth it to stay.
Too many people bought into Chalabi's lies
And I would love to see the US pull out tomorrow.
I just don't think that the other countries of the world are all
of a sudden going to come running in to save the day.
If these other countries cared about Iraq so much, they wouldn't
let their supposed dislike for George Bush stop them from
coming to the rescue of millions of Iraqi civilians today.

Ok so you cannot argue right or wrong here because that is your opinion and I am no one to say your wrong. And I agree with half of what you just said. We are on the same side here, obviously, we just have different opinions on what will happen.
But you are wrong about Dick Cheney, he is still receives monthly payments from Haliburton, he admitted this last week. No stock as far as I know, that may be true, but he gets paid by them. Its just a legal front to give him illegal money.

It is not a legal "front" to give him "illegal" money. The money he receives is money that was negotiated as part of a pay package for services rendered long before he became VP.
When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

Originally posted by CamChicks "Terrorists" are not a limited resource. Thanks to Bush, there are millions more potential terrorists than there used to be.
There was never any terrorism being exported from Iraq into the USA, and Osama Bin Laden gave public interviews calling Saddam an "infidel" and "bad muslim". Osama wanted Saddams secular regime to be overthrown so that Islamic Clerics could sieze power in Iraq. (happening now) Thanks to Bush, Osama's wishes have been granted.
"Democracy" in Iraq means that they will vote their religious leaders into power, who will then abolish any law but Islams. The advancements Saddam made in womens rights and education will probably be reversed, and their schools will only teach Islam and hatred of the west.
We have created an enemy, another Islamic Theocracy (which will unite with others in the region against us), where previously there was only a harmless disgruntled ex-ally. We got rid of a secular dicator who embraced western culture and crushed fundamentalists, in favor of anti-western clerics. How much fucking sense does that make when the 'war' is actually against radical islam? Whether or not you think Saddam was too brutal, the old saying "the enemy of your enemy is your friend" still applies.
There didn't use to be terrorist training facilities in Iraq, but now there will be, funded by their new government. There didn't used to be tens-of-thousands of Iraqi Al Queda recruits, but now there are because we (the USA) dropped bombs on their houses and gunned down their fathers and brothers in their own streets. We have poisoned their country with depleted uranium that will last forever. Noone living there will forget this. Terrorists are not born, they are created, and we are transforming moderates into extremists all over the world, faster than we could ever just "kill them all".
You can quote this crap all day long but it won't make it true.
They start training children when they are 5 years old to be terrorists this did not happen overnite.
There were training camps in Iraq and Saddam did provide financial support, see the 911 report. He was paying a bounty to kill Jews and he swore he would destroy the US which was a good reason to destroy him first.
