Though, there might be something to that... pull it out and start wanking, no one will probably feel like getting too close to you.

i am not sure what you mean by this exactly... but i have noticed how much that people really do not understand their own abilities and limitations until they are in those situations.

i had a martial arts school and watched tons of people train for several years. a simple fact is that many people cannot fight. they cannot get past that pyschological barrier of hitting someone or exchanging blows. many people can't turn on that killer instinct and attack someone with the intent of really hurting them. many people just don't have that in them and it can't be trained into them. it takes a specific character to be able to excel at martial arts both technically and in actual fighting.

thats whats kind of sad about that girl saying she learned some arm lock or whatever in Juijitsu. i hate seeing that stuff. the truth is that confidence will get her hurt one day because she really has no idea what it means to be in a violent confrontation with someone with the adreneline pumping, where someone is really trying to hurt her. practicing wrist locks and arm locks and other similar controls rely on a willing partner... its not something you can do with someone trying to beat the shit out of you unless it comes after extensive training.

Muy Thai and BJJ... there are people that can kick ass with other arts but those two are like peanut butter and jelly for an ass kicking sandwich.

You are very right about this. I train for MMA (cage fighting) 5 days a week 3+ hours a day. The adreneline dump is a very significant factor. It does take a certain kind of person to execute learned fighting techniques effectively.

However I believe that you can "become" this kind of person. I started training with the very same problem with hitting and being hit as well as doing damage to someone I "liked". It takes time but you can overcome this road block if you want to become a great fighter.

I agree 100 percent with you. All these RBSD bullshit styles coming out now do not address one of the most if not the most important variable. The adrenal dump.

If you do not train alive at 100 percent, with a resisting opponent, how do you know it works?

The adrenal dump can be trained, by constant alive training.

On another note, are you going pro? I'm thinking of doing some amateur fight in the next year, nothing crazy, not even sure I can, but willing to try. Once my foot heals from a nasty ankle lock from 7 months ago , I'll start training at ATT down here in Southern Florida.

I figure it's like that Paper, Scissors, Stone type game.

If you're a kicker (TKD, kung fu etc) then a wrestler will beat you.

If you're a boxer or puncher, then a good Kicker will beat you.

If you ain't trained in shit, then everything beats you and so on and so on... Very rough guide but you get the idea.

don't even bother, too many ninjas on this board giving really, REALLY bad advice.

If you want to know what works in a real fight, use what real fighters use. Muay Thai and BJJ. 99% of these other styles you're hearing about in this thread are pure bullshit that will get you killed in a real fight.

Muay Thai all the way, but if you have the opportunity, take a little Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so you are at least familiar with ground fighting.
