There are thousands of buses with a few hundred miles of the Super Dome that could have done the same thing. The governor of LA or the president could of picked up the phone and in-less than 30 seconds had a solution on the way within seconds.

Was this kid the driver of the "renegade" bus? If so, yea, - he deserves a damned medal! At least he did something and probably saved a few asses along the way.
That kinda stuff makes ya think "authorities" have no clue and would be totally lost (hell, they were!) if something more than Katrina hit. They'd still be checking driving licenses while bodies were rotting around em.
That mentality is amazingly deficent.
