Frankly, people can just have hiv FOREVER and never develop aids.
Of course, it really hasn't been long enough for most people to have died from old age instead.
There is no magic time period for hiv becomming AIDS. And AIDs has just 2 defining criteria.
1)Your cd4 count must have fallen below 300 Mil
and/or
2)You catch an "opportunistic" disease..pneumonia, certain skin cancer, etc.
