    Bush has spent 400 billion fighting his stupid war, and 30 billion on homeland defense. Bush has at least two more major wars up his sleeve. Kerry is going to stop fighting wars that breed terrorists and put the money towards defense.

    Bush's rhetoric doesn't work with terrorists, they're not going to stop attacking you because he says you're safe. Like Cheney said, if you make the wrong choice on election day, you will get hit again. The wrong choice is Bush.

                                                                                                    You are correct...and National Guard and Reservists can be called to active duty...at the will of the President...the Ready Reserve can be called back to active duty...Commisioned Officers under age 62 can be called back to active duty...at the will of the President...enlistments can be extended...at the will of the President...even Retired Military personel can be called back to active duty...at the will of the President...though they are usually asked to return to active duty.

When you sign up for the military you serve at the pleasure of the President. It's not an option, and you can't say "oh, um, I don't want to go".

                                                                                                                                                    Her son died. That's sad, and it's a horrible loss. However, I'll bet you my left nut sack that when he signed up he did so with his mother's blessing. But the fact that he was called by the President to pick up his arms and go to a foreign country was always a possiblity.

                                                                                                                                                                                                        It won't necessarily be criminals. But it will be mostly poor people who see the service as a segue to a better life. In that sense it's not as voluntary as say a kid from the Hamptons wanting to signup, you're right. It just doesn't work that way nearly as often. Wonder why.
