Neighbors helped each other and we didn't complain when we didn't have any place to live for weeks or clean water to drink.

It has nothing to do with race, but everything to do with the social and moral responsibility of the people in New Orleans. They just so happen to be a majority of black people, but their problem is that they feel that the government owes them something, and that FEMA owes them something, and that the Red Cross owes them something, and that the American people owe them something. I fully support any relief effort for the people of New Orleans since I appreciated the support my city received last year, even though it took weeks to get it.

Why are we only hearing about New Orleans? Biloxi has just as much damage if not more than New Orleans, but the people of Biloxi aren't acting the same way as the people of New Orleans. They aren't receiving any help either, but the media sees a story of a group of people and makes a national crisis of it. Where are the stories of the people helping other people which happened in our city? Where are the stories of South Florida who also had heavy damage to some of its areas from Katrina and now has NO gasoline at all?

These are a group of people who don't appreciate the help that is given to them. They think that it's the responsiblity of everyone else to come to their aid. They use that as an excuse to loot, kill, rape, and beat other innocent human being and make the environment unsave for relief and rescue workers.

Until you lived first hand in a horrible natural disaster like Hurrican Katrian or Hurricane Ivan, you can not full understand what it is to be without anything. The news cannot describe it, media and pictures cannot fully represent it, but that does not give a group of people the right to act as if they were animals from a prehistoric era.
Very well said.
