Anyone notice this about newbie message boards

Message boards are tough, especially when everyone thinks they can make one successful

very true. you need 100 users straight away or nobody will bother. the only real way to cheat that is fake the board with 50 diferent users posting.. then people may start joining and the fake ones can fade out. too much work tho!

exactly, most boards dont make a fuckin penny but the owners have their heads so far up their ass that they dont even care.

yeah, tumbleweeds blowin' on most messageboards on the Internet. you need a small group of hardcore posters who are actually interesting to get things rolling - much like a party in the real world.

Thanks. I reg'd FakeDrama.com the same day that I reg'd:

DoctorObvious.com (already had DrObvious.com)
& DomBuyer.com

DomBuyer's constant pissing in people's domain threads inspired me to reg all 3. I already have an offer for dombuyer.com, but I'm planning on giving it to him as a peace offering if he ever decides to chill out.

Yep, best idea for a small board starting out is sticking with 1 or 2 topics. Then expanding if necessary from that. GFY could use a few new topics. Those who prefer the "1 board" format should be able to use the "View New Posts" feature which combines them all.

After the initial hurraah of having your friends post, it's tough to keep the impetus.

I've seen one new board doing well so far. But from my experience, it's a very hard thing to keep going.

I will admit that one of my first projects in the biz was a board

But I took it down a long LONG time ago. Think I had a total of about 100 people reg'd.
