    TexasDreams...

The eagle has landed!!! TexasDreams made it to NorCal (1698.8 miles in 2 days) safe-n-sound, now that's good news for a change!

Not bad for a V6 Mustang hauling a 2000 lb trailer (somebody's gotta chop something together)...

Damn, keep us posted on total gas useage.
With the current prices, you'd be better off flying.

Actually the gas usage was fairly low, only used about 70 gallons for the trip. Low price was $2.99 (TX) high price was $3.57 (CA). Even with the car fully packed (passenger seat, back seat, trunk) AND towing a loaded trailer of probably right at 2,000 pounds, I was averaging 24.8MPG.

A lot of people on this board are always bragging about their euro-luxury cars and how great they are. I'll tell you, my little cheap 2004 V6 Mustang handled this trip flawlessly, with ZERO problems even being overloaded, handled smooth as silk, took on all of the mountain roads with plenty of passing power to spare, and the factory seats were nice and comfy even for 15+ hour driving stretches. Not too shabby for a car I bought used (1-yr old former rental car from Phoenix) for $16K.

YIPPEEEE!!! for FORD, and quality built, reasonably priced vehicles!!!

During the trip, I didn't see any real price gouging going on, the only place that was above average was in Ludlow, CA at $3.57 a gallon. But then again that price was in the middle of nowhere in the California desert area (I-40) between the border and Barstow, no other place to get gas for 100 miles.

              Other prices, quite a few stops due to a tiny 14-gallon gas tank. Euless, TX @ $3.09, Memphis, TX @ $2.99, Tucumcari, NM @ $3.11, Grants, NM @ $3.25, Bellemont, AZ @ $3.15, Ludlow, CA @ $3.57, Kingsburg, CA @ $3.29.

Those prices were for MID-GRADE Unleaded, and not the really cheap stuff.

He made it, that means I lost a bet.

I filled up today for 2.99 for premium at Sams Club, I can't believe that we now think that's cheap.
