For god sakes, the US is a military super super power! Something like Katrina requires OUT OF THE BOX thinking but too bad Bush isn't up to it... why weren't B52's loading people 24/7 and flying them to a neighboring state 24/7?

You're absolutely right. It seems to the outside world that US didn't have trains or buses.
Now, way too late of course, the richest government in the world has started to organize an evacuation when still most of the land is flooded. Of course trains are of no use anymore. Only helicopters, busses and military vehicles. But where do suddenly all these brand new buses come from to pick thousands of people up? Where were they the past week??
Bush has a lot of explaining to do...
