I'm somewhat behind the League on this one.
The players want to be paid too much. Hockey just doesn't pull in the same revenue as basketball (NBA).

Man alive! This totally sucks. It's going to hurt small businesses and bars like mad. I understand why they needed the union way back in the day, but for the love of gawd, you are doing a job you love, being paid more money then most can spend in a lifetime and now this. It sucks as the ticket prices skyrocket. For a family of four to go to a game here in Toronto it costs about $500 and that's just for cheap seats and food.
I think that they are getting their fair share of the market. Something has to give.
