New Adult Webmaster Free Speech Org Press Release
This is a press release I copied from elsewhere. I know a few of you are too dumb to understand the importance of free speech in regards to the adult industry, so please ignore this if you are ignorant and you don't care about free speech or the future of this industry.
Adult Website Industry Forms Trade Organization
>> Internet Freedom Association Inc. Press Release
July 22, 2002
Today, a broad contingent of the Adult Website Community formed a trade organization called the Internet Freedom Association, Inc ("IFA"). The corporate paperwork (Doc. No.: N02000005493) was filed in Florida by First Amendment Attorney, Lawrence Walters, of www.FreeSpeechLaw.com, who will act as general counsel for the Association.
"With the backing of a substantial number of industry representatives, we have created a sorely-needed trade group to represent the interests of a growing industry seeking to have its voice heard in both mainstream media and government," Walters said.
The group was formed in reaction to a growing number of laws seeking to regulate adult websites without input from the industry. The IFA will require that its members take a strong stand against child pornography and take steps to prohibit minors from accessing adult material.
"This group is about adult material by adults, for adults," Walters added. Short of these qualifications, the Association will not seek to regulate the content of its members' sites. Insttead, the group will solicit membership from a broad spectrum of adult webmasters, who will elect the directors that will ultimately set the policy for the organization.
Greg Geelan, President and CEO of the YNOT Network, which provides educational and informational resources for Adult Internet Webmasters, states: "An industry-wide association has been long overdue. It is time for our community to speak with a united voice in aggressively defending its legal rights, and in responding to misconceptions perpetuated by various sources. Every individual involved with our industry who is interested in our long-term prosperity should join this organization, and participate in the election of Directors."
The IFA will conduct its first organizational meeting on August 10, 2002, at the industry's biggest trade show, Internext, to be held in Hollywood, Florida. Further details will be forthcoming.
