It's not that bad I took both out at the same time, now a days they don't put you to sleep but give you 5 shots and numb you, and you watch them cut away as you'll feel it, and my dentisit even cracked it and pulled the rest out which hurt and sewed me up.
I bled for like 2-3 days don't even know how i slept, but I didn't eat shit. Now why couldn't someone tell me sooner to eat ice cream to numb yourself and stop the bleeding sooner!!!Comment

I just had all 4 removed 3 days ago! I went to an oral surgeon though, and he put an IV in me to put me to sleep. I was so scared, tears were coming out of my eyes when I was waiting for the surgeon, but I didn't let him see them because he would think it's retarded for an adult to cry about wisdom teeth surgery...
The most painful part was the IV in my arm, it stung like a bitch, other than that I don't recall anything that happened! My wisdom teeth were fucked up too, one had a bone cyst and was growing in sideways. I woke up feeling all drunk and tipsy...
I don't have any holes in my mouth because he stitched them all up... The first day I was a bit nauseous because of the Vicodin, but on the 2nd day I stopped taking Vicodin and went to Advil, I still have 15 Vicodin pills left... I only bled for 3 hours and after that it stopped bleeding...
My advice is to eat soft foods but DON'T drink Ensure or those liquid protein drinks, it is not "solid" enough to tolerate strong meds like Vicodin and antibiotics. The best food to eat after surgery is Sara Lee Poundcake, it just melts in your mouth so you don't have to chew it, and real thin slices of ham or meat to give you protein and energy.. That will help you heal faster than anything... And cheesecake is good too... So is neptune salad...
I am a pussy, and the pain was very low for me... I have felt much worse pain having period cramps or bleaching my teeth.. The worst was was the IV and bleeding all over my shirt...
Also don't drink out of a straw or spit or brush your teeth the first day or you'll get dry socket! I am brushing my teeth again and rinsing with salt water but my breath still smells really baaaaad!

I had mine out a month ago and it was a piece of cake.
Went to an oral surgen and they put me under so I didn't hear or feel anything. Seems like 2 minutes and you are done.
I had a problem once before with nausea so they gave me some Hydroxyzine Pamoate which an analgesic. I must have worked because I had no nausea this time at all with the Percocet.I was looking for a job, and then I found a job

My dentist shot me up with 6 locals and then removed all 4 within a 30 minute period.....filled my mouth full of gauze and prescribed me 20 85mg Percocet Tabs.
Percocets used: 5
Casual bleeding of the gums: 5-7 days

When I had all of mine out at the same time, they forgot to tell me about this simple concoction that stops bleeding.
Just wet a couple of tea bags, insert them into the areas where you are bleeding from, and the bleeding stops in mere mins if not just a few secs. I thought they were full of it when they told me on the phone to do that. BUT IT WORKS!

For those who had their wisdom teeth removed how long does it take until your mouth gets "fully" healed and "back to normal" again approximately? Is everything "healed" in 3 weeks, or a month? To the point where you can kiss again and such...
And I brush my teeth very very well 3 times a day with an electric brush (but avoiding the surgery site of course) and rinse with salt water but my breath is horrid after my wisdom teeth were pulled 3 days ago.. It smelled like somone died in there and it's disgusting.. How long before this bad odor goes away???

I had one removed a few years ago and am suppose to have the other three removed at some point. It will hurt but the pressure when they removed it was the hardest part for me. That said, look after the dry socket afterwards..if that gets infected it is a bitch.Comment

I had mine out (not impacted or anything wrong with em)... They put me under.
Fucking thing is now 2 months later half my lower jaw is still numb because the tooth hit a nerve when pulled out! Might never get feeling back, which is the dumbest thing ever.

Everyone who is going to be having this done worry so much! HONESTLY! If you are going to a certified surgeon, it will take no more than 40-60 mins (from prep time to finish) and you will be pleasantly drugged up during it.
So after the surgery is finished..you are THROUGH with the difficult part. There will be some tenderness and soreness for awhile, but you WILL not even notice it after a few weeks.
The only thing that I thought kinda weird was "NO TEETH BACK THERE!" Seemed like an empty hole!

I feel sooo good because I am able to eat a lot, all I have been doing is eating the whole day... I had half a pound cake, and then some lukewarm coffee, and then some Neptune crab salad, and some Jello, and then some pudding.... and then some shrimp pasta... and 2 scoops of Baskin Robbins ice cream... I think all this eating is helping me heal quicker! Maybe some soup later too for a late night snack

I was awake when they took out mine. Came out nice and easy. Just a little pressure.
Here is what you need to know. NO SUCKING OF ANY TYPE...NO CIGS, NO DRINKING THOUGH A STRAW, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!!!
If you do it's called a dry socket. IT HURTS LIKE HELL
A "dry socket" occurs when the blood clot is lost from an extraction site prematurely. Basically, the blood clot in the socket serves the same two functions as a "scab" on a skin surface cut. First, it assists in the cessation of bleeding and second, it protects underlying structures during the healing process. Like the child who "picks at a scab" the area heals in time but is painful for far longer than if the "scab" had been left alone.
When the blood clot is lost before the underlying structres have had time to heal, bone is exposed to the oral environment along with fine nerve endings. This is an exquisitely painful but otherwise relatively harmless situation. There are packing materials which the oral surgeon can place to help ease the discomfort both by physically blocking the wound and by the action of the chemicals in the pack on local nerve endings. Generally, patients return to have the pack changed every day or two and most patients do not require more than 2 or three dressing changes. Some patients require no dressing while others may require 4 or 5 changes of packing. Tincture of time and good oral hygiene usually resolve the situation.
There are some activities which may increase the propensity for dry socket formation...smoking, drinking carbonated beverages in the first 24 hours after surgery, spitting or drinking through a straw in that same time period...but often "dry sockets" occur for no particular reason at all.

I don't feel so great anymore, I have a headache and it's coming from my upper right wisdom teeth that was taken out... I am pretty sure it's not dry socket, because that is supposed to hurt like hell, and my pain tolerance is low and it's not too bad, but it still aches.
All the soreness is coming from that part of the mouth. By bottom
wound which had an impacted fucked up wisdom teeth with a cyst is not bothering me at all!! But the upper one on the other side of the mouth is bothering, and it feels like something is stuck up there... By looking at my mouth I can't tell if the upper wounds are stitched or not, but the bottom ones are...
My mouth still kinda hurts when I brush my teeth, it aches, I can't open my mouth all the way. It's the fourth day after surgery and I am still afraid to brush the teeth right before the surgery site because I'm afraid it will hurt... When should I start brushing that part of my mouth right next to where the wisdom teeth were without fearing that my brush will hit the wound?? I brush everywhere but scared to get to close to all the nasty stitches...
and I have to brush so slowly, my mouth is sore and achy

Impacted means that it's stuck under the gum. If you have no room for them to grow in, it means that you must have them taken out. If you have room and they are growing in properly then you don't need to worry about it. when are you having your surgery? On the way home I was so damn hungry I stoped at Taco Bell and ordered soft shell tacos and wolfed them down while the numb feeling was still there.
My wife says I just have a high tolerance for pain but to me it was not bad at all.

I think you may have given your poor mouth a tad too much of a workout the first couple of days..so all they need now really is some rest. Stick to some liquids or easily swallowed food & they'll be much better in 24 hours or so.

they gave me vicodin, but I don't want to take it because it's the 5th day already and I need to be coherent and able to function because I live all by myself and need to drive myself around... My brother drove me home and I went to bed.
I woke up and it was a little sore and the dentist said to be careful of the stitches.
no pain, just soreness. a week later I think I swallowed my stitches and it was all over.Comment
