Dual booting (what's the best-easiest way?)

Booting from two diff. HDDs, one has xp, the other has winME on it.
what's the easiest way/app that prompts you on startup which HDD to boot from?

ps. don't ask why i need winME...there are a few apps that i use and are essential that won't work with xp/2000.

I think if you install each os into their own seperate folder (EG: windows1, windows2) for xp and me, it should create a dual booting method. I am not 100% on that, but it works when you reinstall xp with an existing installation already present. Goodluck!

Why do you need that shit ME?

There“s a small hardware utility called a "niclock" you can buy (not sure if its still available though). It connect both harddrives (actually you connect the jumpers) to it, and when doing this, you may turn one of the HDs on/off and thus switch OS. You may choose to have both hd:s running at the same time, or only one of them. When running both you may access the Win ME disk from XP, but not the other way around (since they use different file systems).

Bah... maybe that was somewhat confusing. Anyway, a cool thing you could perhaps make use of.

I think i know the method you're talking about, but, i think, in that case the op systems would have to be on the same HDD, i need to have them on different HDDs.

Try this website: http://www.tipsdr.com/ I reconfig'd my HD to use W98SE and WXP and found the correct way to do it there.

If you think you need winme because xp won't run something than you are retarded.

yeah, okay, i'm retarded...some older hardware, that also have the ability to do something that NONE of its successors do, do not *FULLY* function under 2000/xp. And guess what else? sometimes, older drivers perform BETTER than new ones...so stick your opinion somewhere and get out of this thread unless you have something constructive to add to it...

Windows Me will only boot from the first partition on the first hard disk in the system. Install Windows Me onto Drive C and then install XP onto Drive D. The trick is that you have to install Windows Me FIRST and then install XP. Then, when booting you will get a menu that will allow you to select which OS to boot from.

might work with 2 versions of windows...1 thing for sure, it doesnt work with linux...

if you install linux first, then windows xp...XP overwrite the boot sequence and take over the boot manager of linux that makes you chose between linux and windows xp...
