What is the Average Screen Resolution These Days?

Does anyone have a web statistics site they like to visit to find out what the most commonly used screen resolution is these days.

I am having an internal debate with some people I work with.

Yeah I just read that too. It is about time don't you think? 800 x 600 to me looks like a childs pretend computer.

1024x768 is most common but many are still using 800x600 maybe because they don't like to change standart settings or whatever.

In percents 800x600 is always somewhere between 5-30%.Depending on the sites.

Scroll down to Display Resolution...as of most recent, 800x600 is only 35% of users

Again though not a site that is representative of the surfing public as a whole. As with browsers geeks tend to use different setting (ie higher) than the general public.

Ahhh...so you're saying these "geeks" are only polling their peers and not the "general public" - seems pretty fucking stupid seeing as that site is a resource for developers.

i think that many pleople with 800 has cheap and small monitors. so try to make sites for 1024 or bigger resolions surfers. they have better monitors, so they have more moneys.

Take a beer and calm down. 'Geeks' was your word and not mine and yes for the most part they are. They're not 'polling' but simply gathering data from visitors and the majority of that data comes from their own and similar sites.

Just because it's a 'resource for developers' does not make it accurate. May be that it is pretty close but then I mearly questioned the accuracy of it. It could be within a couple of percent or miles out but without a source of data from a more general audience it's hard to tell. Certainly the browser statistics from that site more than proved that it is often heavily biased.

A little tip for you - just because something's published on the Internet does not make it true or accurate (or the opposite for that matter).

1024 is over 50% for me now (THANK FUCKING GOD)

and 800 is down to around 30%

About 1% 640 and the rest is above 1024
I could put stuff here, but you don't care.

THe only reason people use 800x600 is because they dont want there eyes to go bad when reading stuff on the net. In 1024 everything is so small and you have to strain your eyes, which in the long run will fuck your vision!
