having a big problem with my scanner

paid all kinds of money for this HP peice of shit, dont ask me why because i had big problems with my last HP as well.

could it be that i am trying to scan at 2200 PPI ?

i need to print the pics at 5x7 size, do i need this much PPI?

i hit the scan button and i see it is all working, but it could take 20 minutes to complete a single pic once i accept the preview.

    please help

300 dpi is the setting you should use max unless its for scanning 35mm slides, then go to that high resolution.

oh yea, it flew right through the scans!

thanks so much, but sure this is enough for a 5x7 or possibly a 8x10?

        thanks so much!

What are you scanning (photo, negative, slide) and what is the output (professional lab services, Kodak prints or inkjet)?

For a 5x7 print, I usually scan at 300 or 600 dpi and get good results for print and photos.

Should be ok, unless you are scanning something really small.
