You have to figure that a large percentage of the poor in new Orleans are black just like anywhere else .. and when your poor and there is an opportunity to help yourself you take it. The rich white folks just call there insurance and find shelter till things blow over ... the poor don't own there homes ..but the white guy that does will have his fixed way before he gets to theres ... they feel the effects for a much longer time frame. I've never experienced a tragedy like that but i grew up very poor at times and it gives you a sense of now and teaches you to take advantage of opportunity .. i feel very bad for everyone there that has to deal with this ..

if you never have been to New Orleans you wouldn't know how poor it is and not ALL of new orleans poor are black but a good many of them are. It's a very black community

The city is about 500,000 people give or take. . . I read a report that said 1/3 of people will "stay at home" and not evacuate with a hurricane coming. Figure that most of those are poor, immobile or elderly. So the looters are the ones that can walk and 2/3 of them or more are going to be black. . . . at least in this city.---------------------------------Comment
