MS SP2 is the Devil Incarnate!!!!"
Installed SP2 on 2 Sep 04 and it burnt my CD Writer out, blew my ISP off my computer, installed not as SP2 but as separate KB files and caused error messages by the dozens. I threw it off my computer, Systemax 2000+ w/Athlon 1.67Ghz processor bought 2001, and reinstalled 8 Sep 04. CD burner gone for good. To date,13 Sep 04, I have spent over 15 hours on the phone with MS engineers and service help. Beside putting in their time, most are as lost as we are if this thing dumps or crashes.I have installed a parallel copy of XP on my unit and have reloaded my programs. Also rid my system of SP2 (I think). Engineers are lost beyond cursory thoughts and lastly suggested that I buy another CD Writer to test my system. I think SP2 alters both BIOS and CMOS, which would be just Bill Gates' style. Where's Janet Reno the Dragon Slayer when you need her? Besides, I hear Bill and George W. are pen pals, so I figure I'll vote for Kerry. Not scared to stand by my vote or words, I am Tony Domenick in Wheeling, WVComment

Well apparently about 40% of home users have automatic updates on.
And ~50% of home PCs have XP
That gives us 20% minimum
Add the crazy fuckers like us that installed it voluntarily
and Add in a bit for work comps but most still run 2000 I think.
This gives exactly 31.74% of porn surfers have it installed as of today

Doesn't it prompt you with a checked "recommended" button or something?... I forget nowOriginally posted by AdultNex
40% have automatic updates?
Isn't it set as default? If so, I'd estimate about 90% have automatic updates-- Many people don't know how to disable it.
Anyway according to this , Microsoft says 40% of it's UK users have it on.
The other dubious statistics I got from an eweek article but there is no clear answer
