new orleans always has shootings, katrina didn't change that, just the fact that 2 million news crews are now there it gets noticed. Last 10 or so years NOLA has been in the top 5 if not #1 in murders per capita for the country, these aren't hurricane related events. Had Katrina not rolled through New Orleans yesterday I'd be willing to wager the same amount of people, if not more would have been shot, it wouldn't have been on the news and not a single one of you would have given a flying fuck.
looting is another story, in any major city with a large minority population when disaster strikes, it happens. These events also arent exckusive to new orleans. Do I agree with it? no. Do I understand it? yes. If you couldnt get out of the city and watched your house wash away, all your worldy possessions with it and now have your 6 kids to feed, what would you do?
But I'm sure you've never stolen anything in your life right? Anyway, thats ALL besides the point, I wasnt commenting on your "would there still be looting" comment, I WAS commenting on your ignorant ass "how hard is it to stick out your thumb" comment. How bout we NOT focus on the bullshit that's going on in New Orleans right now and focus on what's really important here... the fact that 80% of a fucking city is under water and in danger of being turned into a lake. Who the fuck really cares if a store was looted, thousands of people will potentially turn up dead, but lets make sure to worry about the petty shit
I find it mildly amusing, being 99% sure you've never seen/witnessed/been effected by anything of this magnitude and feel obligated to offer expert advice from 1600 miles away. "stick yer thumb out and catch a ride" great advice pr0, why didn't you mention this the day BEFORE the hurricane hit, i'm sure it would have saved lives and prevented the looting
