SPYWARE/ADWARE Removal... HELP!

I have Windows XP on my Laptop... and today I got hit with all these pop ups and a bunch of shit downloaded to my computer. I cannot find the files anywhere to delete.

Is my only option to Reformat C? Or would it be worth it to download and pay for a program like SpyKiller?

I hate it because I have a desktop that's about 5 years old, and it NEVER downloads anything... but my new Laptop keeps "catching" stuff...

I run a few programs.I get atleast 50-75 files everyday.It's part of my daily routine.I can't even do any online banking anymore.
Try
Adaware6
Spybot search and destroy
CWShredder
I have a couple paid programs that remove the stuff those won't

If the usual prgms don't work then:

a) download hijackthis:

c) if you still have problems or are uncomfortable using HJT post your log file form HJT here (Malware forum):

I use Ad-Aware 6.0, Spybot - search and destroy, hsremove on a daily basis

I like ad-aware. its a good program. The sopybot program took out things that I needed. So i would go with ad-aware

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

Download firefox browser, and most of your problems will stop. Download an alternate mail program. Don't surf or do email on anything microsoft.

Run microsoft update and get all the latest patches.

Don't accept mail with attachments.

Yadda yadda.

Run the tools everyone has mentioned.

Stop doing business with morons that load toolbars and bullshit on you.

dude - if you run windoom - you have to use
tools as follow:

1. firewall - www.agnitum.com - OutPost Free or Pro Edition
2. virusscan - www.free-av.de - get it in
english - they work since 1996 on virusscan - without to write own viruses
3. ad-aware is also good ...
4. get "search and destroy" too....

and don't forget - allways preffer LINUX

useyour restore feature and roll back tobeforeyouknew about the pops.

before you do that burn all files that you may need since the pops to a disc.

Spybot S&D v13 (PAID version) has a REGISTERY FIRWALL.

You mau or may not be surprised at how many times it goes off in a days time blocking stuff. The DOWNSIDE is everytime you goto install something ot asks if you want to allow it to the registery or not. We all know the worst spyware is the shit that gets into the registery.

just my .02 though worth .01 most of the time
