I've never lived outstide of North America but I have read articles about standards of living and supposedly the standard of living on average is better in North America than elsewhere. So maybe statistically, you'd have a better chance at having a nicer house in a nicer community in the states than anywhere else?
Regarding us being 'better' it's probably too difficult to say. All nations have their problems (social etc) but America is no doubt one of the best. In America you can be 'poor' and in 'povert'y and still be overweight and have a roof over your head (in other words you're not starving and you have indoor plumbing). We have had the benefit after WW2 of attracting the world's elite scientists, researchers, academics, from around the globe that have allowed us to be the most innovative nation since.
