The sheriff's statement that he's "100% certain" that Avila did it may come back to haunt the prosecution. This statement may allow Avila to successfully move for a change of venue since the local area has been prejudiced by the sheriff's statements.

Frankly, I don't see the need for such statements due to the risk of legal complications during the prosecution. Seems irresponsible.
