If you were plugged in to a UPS then chances are shit is fine and this is just something that happened.
UPSs, unlike surge protectors, have Automatic Voltage regulation so even if the voltage on your lines spiked from lets say 115V to 130V you should be fine.
Start off by removing the drivers for the NIC. Go into the hardware manager and make sure that the NIC isnt there, if it is then delete the hardware from the system and reboot.
The same shit has happened to me a few times.
