                  The driver sounded like a real dick, in the article I read he was listening to music in headphones. So he ignored their cries to stop.
                  So if it was my dog there would been one death and one serious assault that day.

                      agreed, i think the dog owner showed some good self control in that situation as i would have been super pissed with the driver!

                                      i drove sweepers for years i don't think he would have heard them without the headphones anyways..when the vacuum is going you cant hear shit and those brushes double the noise...pretty much the only time you use the brushes is when edging and the driver should have been looking in his mirror to make sure the brush was hitting the edge but not actually bashing the curb (cause that would fuck up the brush and ruin it) also when people and animals are close you are sposed to stop the brush for dust and safety reasons such as this...sounds like the dude was just hauling ass, not paying attention, and not following safe operating procedures as most drivers i know and worked with
