If you want to deter terrorists, it's not enough to threaten them with prison or even death if they get caught.

We can't disregard what the world thinks of us and our president and then say we are good for the world. If we ignore the voices of the people around the world they will resist us, even if we are right. We must respect EVERYONE'S opinion. That's the most fundamental criteria of democracy. Yet we have been acting like imperialists. Just as the terrorists said we would. It's up to us to change direction and prove them wrong.
