How much spam do you get?
How many spam emails do you tend to get per day in a publicly available email? One available on a pay site or program site vs. one available on a personal site if you have one? Does the number fluctuate mildly or to an extreme degree?

Not a lot since I installed a spam blocker.
About 5-6 an hour.
They go straight into my bin. -
I used to get 100+ a day. now I only get shit from my wifes yahoo group, not sure what happened but the rate of spam dropped considerably.Comment

So, if any email of mine started getting thousands of spam emails a day or even so many that my host had to disable it for the sake of the server, then I should be suspicious about organic causes for that?Comment

We get around 2-3k of spam daily. Use spamassasin to flag and then delete them all.
Sure we may loose a few legitimate ones but it is worth it.Comment

It depends on the domain for me, I guess as it should for everyone else. Some get 5 a day, some 10+.

Unfortunately the way the AI ones seem to work would be problematic. For example, I'll get a mountain of spam with the word interview in it to my press contact email and I'll get tons with adjectives to describe the human body to my model contact emails. As I understand it, flagging the spam email would then make the software kill all the most important emails too. Am I understanding the tech on that?Originally posted by CJswe

So if you do not get more than a few hundred spam per day I would not recommend it.Comment

Oh, I get a few thousand, but they seem pretty targetted, a lot like a competitor trying to keep me from getting specific emails. I have some pretty public emails which get almost no spam. I had one email account which received hundreds of spams before it was even really public, but it received one real email from a competitor as well. Well you never know, I think that would be a bit far fetched though.
