I just moved to the OC from santa barbara because it is too much. I just bought a house here for $580,000 but it's got a built in pool hut tub 4 bedroom 2 car garage in a nice neighborhood. Funny though I was just reading only 11% of socal can afford to buy a house where they live.

I had to move in with my parents a while ago because of high rent. We pay here 1150 a month.
This same house went on the market for sale at 469k over 4 months ago and still hasent been sold.

Try Ventura, it's about 30 miles south. It's going up average 25%-27% annually and has been for the past 5 years. You can still get homes starting at 300-400kComment

California is definitely expensive. I live in San Francisco. The San Francisco Bay Area as a whole is more expensive than Southern California (LA Areas).
The median home pice in the Bay Area is like $550K for a 3 bedroom. Even in the ghetto prices start at $400K
I grew up in Burlingame which is an expensive suburb of San Francisco. We sold that home back in '95 for $400K. Now it's worth well over 1.5 million. It's a 2 story 3 bedroom house..nothing overly fancy. Wish we still owned it.
With the money I make in porn I decided to buy real estate as an investment since property value keeps climbing. So about 3 years ago I bought a 4 unit apartment complex in San Francisco. It cost almost $900K. I live in one of the units. The building is now worth about 1.4 million
Property value just keeps on rising. I say California is a great investment opportunity. Prices aren't going to drop anytime soon. Heck look at Manhattan. I know condos there go for over 1 million. So I think it's safe to say California will just keep increasing in price.
So yes it's expensive but if you can get your foot in the door and buy at least a condo or something you'll definetly make your money back and then some..Comment

per month 2 $1,400.00 ( I checked 3 weeks ago back down to $ 850.00 )
A one bedroom Apt. 1/2 block from my office was $ 750.00 went up to $ 1,450.00.
So the guy I was sharing the Blg. (office)
he bought 5 acre's with a 3 bedroom house on it and barn, he got a real nice place for less than 200 K, in IW
And i moved back to Fresno. I checked 3 years ago form rocklin 2 Bakersfield, Fresno was the cheapest. But not for long.
it's the last large place for the developers, building like mad here.
