    how much is my domain worth....?

    hi all.

    few weeks ago i registered two domains:

    backlessbrief.com
    backlessbriefs.com

    now, as there is some australian based company that caused a lot of hype recently with some of their "revolutional" product, about which you can read more on:

    it's obvious they spent big bucks on getting the product developed and patented all over the world. now, they missed when they only registered their official website at:

    www.pertbacklessbrief.com

    while they forgot my domain(s). today, their representative contacted me and asked if i'm interested in selling domain. while i'm waiting for their offer to arrive, i'm interested in hearing your opinions, as this is first time i might be selling my domain: what's the safest way to do so (and quickest), how much do you think that domain is worth, etc? any advices appreciated.

                                      yea, those domains are available. but they're interested in backlessbrief, probably because their company name says that + they call their product backless brief, not g-string or thong or anything.. even though, they should consider all these domains ;)

                                      try googling for backless brief and you'll see they're even running adwords.

                                              I have been in a similar situation recently. I just gave them a high price and we worked our way down from there. Both domains ended up selling for around $500 each.

                                              I did not want to fight for a high price because both compaines could have tried to take the domains from me since they have been in business long before I registered the domains.

                                              I would begin with an asking price of around $2,500 If you ask much more they might just try to take the domain.

                                                      well, at the moment, i'm waiting for them to give me an offer, i don't want to go forward to them with any of my figures... let's see what they've got to say first. i might give them both domains (single and plural) in a bundle if they make a nice offer.

                                                          just make sure the offer they send you isn't from WIPO. they may decide to take the name instead of paying for it, especially if legal/arbitration fees are cheaper than your asking price. if you sell, use escrow.com, quick, reliable, safe. have an ironclad contract (NDA), that states "BEFORE" you enter any discussion with them, they agree to keep all information private, and somewhere in the agreement add in a clause that they can not sue you for the domain even if you can't agree on terms. obviously choose your words carefully. in the meantime, turn on the domain name, setup an email signup form and tell surfers that info is coming soon. this way your domain/email list will be worth far more to them. obviously, dont set up porn links or spam the list. make sure your site's TOS lets surfers know that their addys are transferable to any company that acquires the site. don't charge too much for the domain, flip it in case this product doesn't succeed. i read about it before and the pics were interesting, nice catch.
