The Harken issue is a lot more serious and a lot more recent than Whitewater was for Clinton, and we know how long that dragged on. I would say that this issue is going to cause Bush problems for years to come.

The American people now question Bush's ethics and honestly publicly, and even the right wing talk radio types are left with only the "but Clinton had his dick sucked" excuse, rather than any real defense of Bush. I personally don't think that Bush will get into real legal trouble for this because he has too much power to influence the investigation. I do think it hurts him a lot in the eyes of America and the world.

I think Dick Cheney, on the other hand, may be in serious legal trouble right now. The Halliburton case seems like one where the Vice President is going to pay civil penalties at the least, and go to jail, or be forced to step down at the worst. Cheney is being sued by a right wing watchdog group, not by Democrats.
