Don't let SEGuru baffle seo newbies with snake oil talk..

There is no Black hat seo, just short term and long term strategies.
If these so calles seo experts have anything to offer you can be sure its passed its use by date.
the only SEO techniques that work are good on page optimisation which you can learn from www.webmasterworld.com and a sound linking strategy that allows you to get some one way links pointing to your site.
The trick is finding ways of getting these one way links to your sites.
Here are a few.
Get a directory listing.e.g. yahoo or Dmoz
Drop your url into blogs and guestbooks
Get your url into referral logs that are crawled by SE'S
Buy links but expect to wait a couple of months for effect.
Buy expired domains.Takes patience to work with google but can work with Yahoo quickly.
Build a few domains with reciprocal links and then give a one way link to your money site.
Trade a link to someone's site if they can reciprocate from a different site.
Spam your url on forums.
Buy some sites already with Pr and link them to your domain.

Tactics such as automated text and cloaking are only incidental and are hardly worth the trouble.
It doesn't take much to whack up some original text and if the page is well optimised then one page can rank for many kws.
Plus if you do lose your domain to some SE penalty you still have your bona fide content to move to another domain and strat anew.

With the frequent and constant changes that most of the larger engines make, any of the optimisation that you thought you knew is obsolete by the time you get around to putting it all together.
