This won't work for various reasons, the main reason being that there are thousands of other things that require oil in one way or another. Everything from logistics to manufacturing to travel to whatever else you can think of. Think about it, we use trucks to move practically everything in this country, use ships to import and export, use planes to fly, oil is used to manufacture everything from plastic to aluminum to steel to paper. A few hundred people not filling up their tank one day won't do a damn thing. Oil is not a renewable resource, therefore there is less oil today then there was yesterday, and there will be less oil tomorrow than there is today. Therefore, oil tomorrow will be worth more than it was today and oil today is worth more than it was yesterday. Simple economics.
