    Opinions on the 2005 Subaru WRX STi



    I am going to buy this car soon and was curious on peoples opinion. Its the fastest production car in 2005 for under $35k and since I live in Canada its going to be fun in the snow too.

    0-30mph = 1.2sec
    0-60mph = 4.7sec
    1/4 mile = 13.3 @ 100mph

    They recently tested the 05 STi on the Streets of Willow Springs with a lap time of 1:35. Compared it to the 493hp Lamborghini Gallardo's best of 1:33? WOW!

      I think it's a great car. One thing I don't like about it is the interior, but that's just me.

                  If your filipino or vietnamese it's ok but as a white guy I wouldn't be caught dead in it. Even the chinese guys here wont drive those.

                  I'm not really a car guy but if I was going to buy I would use the $35k as a down payment on a Benz SLK350 or better.

                              Just my opinion on it from a Vancouver perspective. It may be intended to look Euro Rally but because of the people who generally have them here it is now associated with the plywood spoiler crowd.

                              It's probably a great car, but I would get something a bit more substantial.

                                  I would.. only problem is winter time. I cant justfy spending 6 figures for 2 cars for different seasons.

                                                                                                                  ugly ass car imo, but then all subs are pretty ugly, it's part of their charm. the wrx sti is a serious fucking car, make no mistake. fast, handling, allwheel drive, basically a rally car.

                                                                                                                  i'm buying an '05 wrx wagon for the winter this fall (have no need for the extra speed of the sti, and want more room for hauling shit). perfect winter beater car...

                                                                                                                      For the money, there is no better *fun* car out there. They come to about $56k cad including all taxes and everything.

                                                                                                                      You cant really compare a wrx to the sti. They are just not in the same class.

                                                                                                                      For the same money, you COULD buy a bmw, but its not even a nice bmw. So why bother? And mercedes? come on, unless you are willing to put down another $20k or so, you cant get a decent luxury car.

                                                                                                                      And whats the next closest sports car in canada? G35, 350Z? Both cost more money then the sti...

                                                                                                                                  Quiet - someone had mentioned their wrx sucked because of turbo lag... the sti has little turbo lag, evidenced by the 0-30mph times. Of course, that post has dissappeared now.

                                                                                                                                  At this point in my life, I'd love to have a porsche or so... but, if I get the subaru wrx sti, I can still afford to get my fiancee the tsx she wants and still pay all my monthly bills ;)
