Exactly. Not rich by any means but instead of selling old computers, cell phones, printers, clothes, etc on eBay and such I usally take them to goodwill each year.

We often take our success for granted. It usually takes a reality check to our lives or a friend's lives to realize what we truly have.

Anyone that is fortunate enough to be blessed with a roof over their head and food and clothes( that they get to pick out and buy) are very lucky. Its great that there are places like GoodWill that provide value clothing for the less fortunate.

seeing single moms with 2 dirty kids was no good... makes me want to work the homeless shelters during the holiday.

but... we all take a direction in our life.

some people dont want make a big move in their life.

not everyone who shops goodwill is homeless and poor.

sometimes you can get name brand clothing in brand new condition. .. for a fraction of the cost. why spend more than you have to just because you have it to spend.

              I know I am blessed !!

I dont ever throw anything viable away. I ask friends who are not as lucky as I am... if not one can use item... then I donate it to Goodwill, Salvation Army, AmVets, City of Hope, or local thrift store. I hate filling landfills...

              Sure I get a receipt...

Sure I use the Tax Deduction...

              Why would I not?

Smart tax planning is part of what allows me to have the lifestyle that I have, but that does not change my big heartedness... Sometimes donating is easy.. hell.. sometimes they will come pick stuff up right at your door.. but other times its about filling up the ol pickem up... drivin down to donation center burnin my 2 buck a gallon gas and unloading truck...

my kids and i volunteer at a homeless shelter once a month. we have been doing this for about a year and a half now. both of my kids have a crate in their rooms that is designated for toys clothes and books they want to donate to the shelter each month. i knew doing this would have an impact on myself and my kids but i had no idea it would turn them into such generous kids. They love to see their toys being played with and kids in the clothes they've grown out of. My son even saved up his allowance to buy the shelter a playstation and some games . . . and surprisingly enough it hasn't been stolen yet.
it is amasing how good it makes you fell to help out others that are less fortunate.
