Actually, Bearded Dragons have REALLY sharp teeth and they can bite in self defense. Their teeth are a lot sharper than Green Iguanas.Originally posted by kinkykerri
omfg, when people dont know anyting about something different opinions start flying huh? they will NOT bite you, they are not like iguana's.. they do not have sharp teeth. i cant believe what i am hearing lololol
Make sure you give the Bearded Dragon crickets, mealworms, wax worms, etc. as well. You can order insects in bulk from http://www.grubco.com/
Be sure to have a place to keep the insects such as a small fishtank. Having a Bearded Dragon in a sense is like having hundreds of pets as you need the insects to survive...until feeding time.
I think generally Bearded Dragons are tamer than Green Iguanas but the Iguanas are easier to take care of due to them being vegetarians and all.Comment

Okay here is her new home. She has apples and water and branches.
If the guy who I think owns her says he does not own her I have already prepared to find her a new home by putting an add on Craig's List. Two people have already e-mailed me saying they want her. YEAH!!!!~ loryn@loryntaylor . com ~

Okay guys he is in the box and he is not moving like he use to when I came up to him. He is not perky. It's warm outside 96 degrees and he is in the shade.
Could he just be sleeping from all the stress and food???
Help me

Bearded dragons are pretty friendly, I have been thinking about getting one. As far as the teeth go I dont know but I have seen them tear up some pinky mice

haha.. is every big lizard an iguana?
Yes it's a bearded dragon.. and he will eat some vegetation but prefers bugs. Petco/Petsmart sells crickets. Get him those. You can feed him waxworms too as mentioned but stay away from mealworms. He'll also eat mustard greens, kale, squash and the like (cut it up in small pieces).
My 17 year old raises herps. His beardie, Rex, is 6 years old and the tamest thing in the world...unless he thinks you're lunch.Comment

Loryn..
this link might help with care info..
http://www.kingsnake.com/gladescs/bearded/
She is now laying there with her eyes closed not moving. I gently pushed on her back with my figures and nudged her, she didn't jump or anything. She slowly opened her eyes and that was it. I don't want to pick her up if she is just sleeping.
Is this normal behavior for them?
Also should I put a light in there with her to keep her warm through the night or will she be okay in the box? It is way warm here at night, like 85 degrees. At dawn it gets like 60 degrees. Will she be okay???~ loryn@loryntaylor . com ~

Sounds normal. They are pretty laid back and sounds like she's/he's had a big day. They sleep like logs at night.. A temp down to 60 isn't too good. if you have a heating pad of some sort you might try rigging that up under whatever you have in the bottom of her box.. just on one side so she can move to it if she wants. My son's beardie's enclosure stays at 75 degrees with a hot spot high on one side that's about 110. There are all sorts of heat type things at the pet store from lights, black lights, to ceramic heaters. If you don't have a heating pad handy for tonight.. you might try some sort of reading light with perhaps a 100 watt bulb over the top of the box she's in.Originally posted by Loryn-Adult.com

She was so cute today looking around, eating out of my hand. Then the sprinkler came on and she didn't like that so we moved together under a bush, well she went under the bush I just followed with her.
I guess I will bring her in the house then and put a reading lamp on her box. I'll get other goodies for her tomorrow like food and a good light and maybe a stone. I don't want to keep her so I have to find her a home, if my neighbor doesn't claim her. He hasn't been home yet.~ loryn@loryntaylor . com ~

taken from the website:
Sexually mature males will darken there beards, bob their heads and stamp their front feet during the courtship of the female. He will chase her around the enclosure and attempt to mount the female. Males often bite the fleshy skin at the base of the females neck when attempting to position her for breeding.
sounds like my sex life.

I used to keep them as a kid...I fed mine mince meat with lettuce mixed in..they lived for years on that diet...but who ever said they don't bite is wrong...they actually have quite a nasty bite and sharp little teeth.
They are active in the warmer months, then hibernate in winter and will hardly move or eat.
Maybe this link will help

thats a smart thing to do with him. dont worry bout not knowin what to do cause you are doin the right thing already. just make sure he has water and a little mixed vegies and he is gonna be fine till you find the ownerOriginally posted by Loryn-Adult.com
Well right now I have put water, lettuce and some flowers down in front of him. He doesn't run away from me when I walk up to him.
He was really hot when I found him and was a brown color. He found some shade and is starting to get some green to him.
If he starts moving around I am going to catch him and put him in a big box until I find his owner or a owner for him.
I do not know the first thing about Iguana's!! This is all new for me. But fun!!!Comment

my neighbour has one that is about 4 feet from nose to tip of tail. Fucker is huge. It walks over to watch me mow sometimes. Kind of a creepy animal. When my driveway is clean you can see where he walked. HUGE foot prints.Comment

It isn't an iguana ...Originally posted by Giorgio_Xo
Don't forget to wash your hands afterwards. Iguanas transmit Samonella at high rates.
