Anybody using a dual core extreme edition pentium machine for video work?

if so, are you finding that it is significantly faster for premiere pro, after effects, and encore?

I don't think you'll find many professional editors or effects people on here. Porn editing isn't as important as mainstream comercial, TV, and film.

Bump for you because I used to be into compositing and effect/3d stuff.

I'd be interested myself in the findings, but to be honest, I'm ready to go Mac...

3d is different that video obviously, but tomshardware usually has good reviews on stuff like this.

Well, a lot of companies sell boxes designed for certian programs. How high end are you looking to go and what software? Avid? Discreet? Final Cut?

i would like to get the most bang for the buck, alienware offers the amd dual core but it is the opteron, is that better than the toledo?

i use premiere pro, after effects and encore

I'm kind of out of the loop. I'd suggest building your own if bang for your buck is important. Mainly becase you'll save quite a few bucks. If you stll don't want to, I'm sure you can find some places online that offer turnkey systems.

                    Browse http://www.dv.com/

you may find stuff on there.

I use Premiere Pro and Encore and I am still using a P4 2.6 Ghz computer. If I move to hi-def eventually I will probably ultimately get a dual-core system myself. Tom's Hardware had some interesting detailed reviews. Should be faster for encoding as well, how much remains to be seen for me.
