I never said that you couldn't find red lights in other parts of Amsterdam. I said that Kattengat isn't in the middle of the RLD, or at least what would commonly be considered the main RLD.
Could you imagine walking into some tourist shop on Damrak and asking "where is the red light district?" They would point you in the complete opposite direction from the hotel.
