In 2050, will the population of the earth be MORE or LESS than it currently is?

With the current situation with babyboomers as well as the average family in north america bringing to life less and less children, I can't understand how the population (or north america at least) will increase.

What do you guys think? can anybody explain to me why it will increase?

I am quite sure the world population in 2050 will be more than today.
It may not double till 2050, but I am quite sure it will be significantly higher than now.

poor ppl in north america have about 5 kids per family who end up each having 5 kids of their own who each end up having 5 kids of their own.. who more than likely end up on welfare or populating our prison system. the degenerates in our society multiply like roaches...

think im full of shit? spend some time working at any place that serves the public (hospital, police station, court house)

Less - much less - the aids epidemic will have had the desired effect, and if we are just limiting it to the US (China has already adopted these laws) it will be against the law to have more than 2 children per family by the end of this decade. This is also the reason abortion will never be totally outlawed in the US.

one more thing that needs to be considered in the developed countries - it can be expected that people will be living longer on average in a few decades from now

less children born + people living longer => societies getting older and older => even more imigrants needed to do the jobs

I also fully expect a world war to develop. Over oil. Supply is exceeding demand and demand is going up faster than supply can increase.

A country like Saudi Arabia could go fundie, and then turn off the oil.

The US would invade to instill democracy.

Or it could be that China buys oil production and diverts production currently going to the US, to China. They are taking large equity stakes in oil production companies. Very recently in Canada.

Makes me want to enjoy life now, and it makes me glad I did not have children.

We made a short film about the world becoming overpopulated.

Basically the goverment forms the "Population Control Agency" to thin the population. These agents have a license to kill annoying people. You know the people that sit right behind you in an empty movie theater and talk loud.

It's a futuristic dark comedy.

Black and hispanics are stil having kids are breakneck speed. Illegal as well a legal imigration also will increase the population. Immigrants of all kind alos have more kids. Only popualtion not having more kids is whites. Medical advances will allow more and more people to live to be 80,90 and 100. In 2050 the popuation in the US will be over 400 million and whites will be less than 50% of the population.

Dude, hellooo?????!!! In about 15 years, the population in India is going to surpass China's population. Thats around 400 million more in just 15 years in ONLY one country. The rest of the planet may not be developping as fast, but 50 years for 6 billion ppl, its gonna be WAYYY more than what it is now. Approaching maybe the double.
