    Whois Gurus

I have always used web-based whois tools and
these-days you often have to visit the registrar
where the domain is registered and complete one
of those optical passphrase thingies before searching.

Is there any way to do automated whois queries for
    multiple domains over multiple registrars?

I am basically looking for a script, desktop app,
service, or whatever which works like:

    http://www.betterwhois.com/

But allows simultaneous lookups for hundreds of domains.

whois.sc may have some tools you're looking for.

in my experience, most companies frowned on running automated whois queries, so we pulled from multiple sites/ip/accts, etc for my results, but I always got nasty emails saying you're banned for 24-48 hours. LOL. I had something custom made but I'll have to talk to my techie though to get details for you. I haven't used it for awhile. I do bulk availability checks all the time (lists of 10k max at a time) but seldom need bulk whois data. curious, what are you using the info for? spam? leads?

or you can try getting ICANN accredited.

      good luck.

I am searching for domains that match certain criteria, then contacting them to see if they want to sell their domain/site. I need their whois so that I know how to contact them.
