The russians had absolutely no control over that situation. Civilians were running in and out, there were no ambulances nearby to ferry out the wounded in the event of casualties (which, considering that there were already dead bodied on the ground in the front of the building seemed pretty fucking likely)... pandaemonium. Bullets and rpgs flying in every which direction and innocents getting caught in the crossfire, and the bad guys taking a walk in the aftermath because noone knows wtf is going on.
If they caught the bastards later, then GOOD. At least someone, somewhere had a couple neurons to rub together... but at the school, it was a catastrophe, pure and simple.

This is directly opposite to what I saw this morning. There were *NO* ambulances on the scene when fighting broke out, nor were there for hours. Civilian vehicles had to be pressed into service for lack of any other choice. Additionally, the streets were clogged with civi vehicles preventing emergency crews from getting in and out properly.
