I have yet to see a shred of evidence indicating thats what he actually did or intended to do. I think his Lawyers were silly for copping a plea, because unless the gov't has some evidence its been withholding, they should have been able to get him off on the conspiracy stuff.
Bottom line: If the gov't had the evidence to support those charges they would not have accepted a plea offer.
Lindh's lawyers probably plead it down because they thought it would be almost impossible to find an unpredjudiced jury in light of the fact that champions of "justice" like Assooooo covicted him in the press before he even arrived in the US. And again, I think they did it intentionally because they knew even then that they did not have evidence to convict him of the most serious charges before an unbiased jury.
