Is there a real definition of a portal? In my opinion free sites with a bunch of links would be portals. I think I tearned www.extremetorture.com into a crappy one temporarily

IMO, a portal is a site that doesn't fit snugly into the categories like linklist, tgp, etc.

The reason I am asking is because I am putting www.jackoffjunction.com together, and it's a hybrid with a TGP, a linklist, some free galleries, and once I get the front end finished, I'm putting in a back end that will offer registered members a communuty of sorts. It doesn't fit anything I've ever heard described, so portal seems to do it. *grin*

I was just curious how other people were defining and implementing their portals.

I'm only trading with portals leading to the past, hun. If your portal goes to tomorrow I can trade the day after that, though.

I guess a portal is a bunch of stuff put on one site or page. Whether it is a tgp, linklist, banners, etc. all in one.
