Whether there is some sort of supreme being or not is, for our daily lives, totally irrelevant.

There are people on this planet who have no concept of a god or gods, yet the sky is still blue, the water is still wet, the ground is still made of earth. They live, they grow, they learn, they love and they die totally without knowing about a god, or even considering the concept.

I'm willing to accept the possibility that perhaps our universe was brought into existance by a higher form of life... but I also know that even if so, it has no effect whatsoever on my daily life except for whatever weight that I personally want to give it. I could choose to balm my woes of this world, claiming that 'the devil' is at the root of it all, pointing a finger and blaming everyone except myself for whatever ills I suffer. I could fall to my knees, grovelling and scraping and praising a most potent and awesome 'the God' for all things good that come my way... but in the end I think I'd be doing myself a disservice. In submitting myself to unquestioningly to dogma, to allow myself to be woven into this tapestry of prevarication, I'd be denying myself far more important: the quest for REAL truth.

None are more hopelessly imprisioned than those who falsely believe they are free. I'd rather accept that there are things we don't know and seek those answers, than fill up those gaps with a convenient fabrication because it feels more comfortable.
